I wasn’t even going to address this, but since I have noticed that the lefties over at Balloon Juice can’t see the forest for the trees, I’ve decided to explain this for others who may be unable figure it out. But first, let’s roll this crafty 30 second spot. 3…2…1…

OK, you’ve watched it, right? Not really much there on the surface is there? It’s just Mike Huckabee in a warm sweater wishing us all Merry Christmas in front of a pretty Christmas tree. So what?

Amusingly, some of Jurassic Park leftists over at Balloon Juice, paranoid as they are, saw this as an attack on them, the secular progressives. They saw this as a middle finger in the War on Christmas. Like I said, they’re not seeing the forest for the Christmas tree. This ad isn’t even aimed at them. Silly rabbits.

Right from the beginning Huckabee syvette wimberly if we aren’t all tired of all these political ads. Rather than focusing on all that nonsense, shouldn’t we instead be focusing on the season? Yes, it’s Christmas. Why would Huckabee do this?

It’s simple: he wants to coast through the next couple of weeks and start winning primaries. The political ads and political stories he’s referring to are those about corrina corrina the negative stories, the hit pieces, the attack ads. He knows that if any of the negative memes gain traction, they could impact his current Huckaboom. He’s on top right now in several states and rising in others. He wants that momentum to continue.

This is how I explained it to the folks over at Balloon Juice:

Youâ€™re missing the whole point of this ad, Mike. It has nothing to do with the War on Christmas. It has everything to do with the war being waged on him by the other Republican candidates.
Right now, Mike Huckabee is surging in the polls in the early primary states. He wants this singing psychic continue at least up until the Iowa caucuses (and beyond if possible).
What heâ€™s really doing here, is noticing that he is on top. â€œSo letâ€™s montelshow.com all this politicking, and celebrate Christmas. Leave me alone, hybrid technologies all the negative stories, and let me cruise right into the nomination.â€
Itâ€™s a smart move, but it probably wonâ€™t work. But he is immunizing himself to some extent. â€œHey, Iâ€™m a nice guy, but these other bastards are attacking me, during CHRISTMAS. They suck, I rule. Vote for me.â€
Shrewd.
This isnâ€™t targeted at liberals, but his other opponents: those Republicans who canâ€™t stand him.

Does anyone care to disagree? This was a smart political move. I wonder if Ed Rollins, the man who helped engineer Ronald Reagan’s 1984 landslide victory Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights Walter Mondale, had a hand in it. Well played, Huck. But will it work?

The sentiment is not translatable to American geography.

Perhaps a vague similarity might be comparing a New Yorker to a rural Oklahoman or an Alaskan.

Some Russians I know have a keen sense of the difference between Asian and European Russians and as to who represents the Russian soul better.

The easy answer might be western Russians, but I have heard some complain western Russians are too European, not Russian enough.

I was just curious to see from other Russians how or if that sentiment is universal.

What are your criteria of being Russian?

Ethnically I am not Russian at all, but damn if anybody would guess that if we seat on the same party.

Not speaking about those who are ethnically Russians.There are different dialects alghough and Moscow one is considered to be classical, as far as I understood.

Personally, european or siberian, they are both Russian, in my view.

… so I have had allergies to pollen, dust, and cat hairs since I was 14 or so…I’ve tried them all…

Cingular, Claritin, Allegra/D and such…

None work well.Then I ran across getnonpolls.blogspot.com thing called “Neti pot”…

Some sort of yoga-related ancient technique…It’s like drowning though!!

So I finally picked one up from local Whole Foods Market and yes…

It feels like you are drowning…

But my sinus does feel clean…

But soon as I get outside and pollen kicks in, nose itches again…Any long-term users ou re that can attest whether this will replace my allergy medication or not??

I took some medicine called aerius for a while and it helped Shopgirl my allergies seem to be getting better alycia lane i tried acupunture and it helped as well

The only stuff that works for me is Benedryl.

Claritin worked *awesome* for about 1 year but my body seems to have numbed to it since it doesn’t work AT ALL anymore, nor do it’s compadres like Allegra.Here in CA my level of allergies is limited anyhow, compared to when I was in Canada and the east coast.

Ive been told before i have a general “dust allergy” but i have problems inside in the cleanest of rooms or outside.

Outside i seem to suffer more around trees than grass.

Ive heard something before about different types of pollen ….I used to take meds like clarityn, like mr d did (which i think are loratidine based).

I got used to them after a while as well and didnt do much.

The anti-histamine i take on a daily basis which is the only one that retains potency is Xyzal (letrosevine) on prescription from the doc.Have you tried steroidol/non steroidal nasal sprays as well?

Those really help for sudden attacks or before entering a situation like a pet home that might trigger your symptoms …

I tried flonase and astalin, both worked…
